Who am I?
Beyond the standard existential crisis response to that question…
I’m Amy-Leigh. A professional photographer who has been in this industry for 19 years. Definitely showing my age there (not a spring chicken). If you want to know my credentials on what makes me the person to be delivering the education I deliver they are below. If you want to know more about me personally that stuff is also below.
But A little bit more on northern presets first - I've been helping photographers achieve their signature style and vision for their business for the past 10 years now. It was born from a place of frustration amongst peers when it came to editing. I leant a helping hand where I could, made some presets which were coined as game changing and before I knew it I was inundated with contact from photographers needing similar help. over the past 10 years, I've worked with hundreds of photographers all over the world helping them refine their signature visual style, elevate their work and grow their business to what they want it to be.
northern presets has grown over time, content has changed, delivery has changed, technology has changed and ultimately the industry has changed. I’ve experienced and seen many trends come and go, seen the bare bones of over hundreds of photography businesses worldwide and on the back of all of that crafted two main education programmes that are unique in the industry that I believe help photographers in a way that is both accessible and transformative to their work and business.
CREDENTIALS
eDUCATION - Photography at college and university. Gained BTEC ND, BA (HONS) AND MA in philosophy of visual culture with photography. Initially did fashion photography then went to Africa to shoot for NGOs (doing documentary/ photojournalism) and then became a wedding photographer specialising in destination weddings and elopements.
Alongside northern presets and being a professional photographer, I freelance write for professional photo magazine covering software/editing/ai content. I also work with a number of software companies on a consultancy basis. Not just a Lightroom user - very well versed in most software in the industry and do beta testing for software companies.
Personality
I'm the kind of person who shys away from writing ‘about me’ pages that’s for sure. but for anyone that cares I'll suck it up just for you. Here goes. I'm a friendly northerner who enjoys travelling, the outdoors, exploring mountainous landscapes, in the freezing cold, then going back to a cabin in the woods to get warm and read books. That’s my perfect kind of day. Has to also involve coffee. Probably also involves taking some photos.
Im a mother to a son (and a tortoise), have the most supportive other half who can often be seen in the background of video calls,
I love all things photography/image making, music, cinema/film, gaming and various craft projects (that largely go unfinished). Oh and did I mention books?
